The portable refrigerator created with electric cars in mind

There is still a long way to go to dismiss gasoline and combustion cars, but little by little electric cars are gaining market share. And that, as long as the energy comes from renewable sources, is good. Despite the fact that for now these vehicles are seen as ideal for the city, over short distances, there are already many who can dare long getaways. And it will go further, as soon as the charging infrastructure improves.

Since they work with batteries and can store a lot of energy, it is possible to power other appliances directly from them, as we saw in the Kia EV6, for example. That is what this prototype of a portable refrigerator is after, which seems to have always been part of an electric car.

We know, there are countless portable refrigerators on the market, with a wide variety. But few have as careful a design as the one shown by this one created by Joeun Kim. The designer has fled from the image of a small refrigerator and has imitated more of an electric car. Christened the Fridze, it looks sleek, futuristic and minimalist, almost like it’s out of place at a campsite.

It looks and moves like a bulky, solid suitcase. It features two wheels at the rear and a telescopic handle and adds a thick U-bar at the front to prevent it from tipping forward. The use of straight lines and flat edges mimics many charging posts.

It is designed to be part of the optional equipment of an electric car or SUV, hence it is designed to connect directly to the batteries to extract the energy it needs. Of course, it has a small battery for times when it cannot be connected to the car, for when moving from one place to another, for example.

In all other aspects, this refrigerator works like any other, except in its upper part, where it has a shelf capable of keeping drinks or food cool. Granted, this isn’t some revolutionary invention that could change the world, but it certainly is a preview of the add-ons that are going to hit the market as more electric cars are on the road, quite elegantly, for certain.
