Red Bull has had to scratch his pocket, and not exactly little, for to be able to be in Formula 1 in this 2023. In order to compete. So that Max Verstappen revalidates the title achieved last year and for the team to do the same, after the Constructors World Cup of 2022. Some record figures for the Dutchman, and an unstoppable car… that has its economic repercussions.
Because Red Bull has had to pay, first, 25 million euros for being in the World Cup, and second, an amount close to 8 million for all the points achieved in 2022 and also for the Super licenses from Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez.
This amount, to compare it with other teams, with the team that scored the fewest points in 2022, which was Williams, represents almost ten times more than what the Grove team pays.
“I got the bill a few days ago. It’s amazing. I didn’t realize how much we had to pay for the points we’ve got”, said Christian Horner, the team boss.
The one who pays the most, in terms of pilots, is Max Verstappen. He Dutch is pissed off about all this.
“I don’t think it’s right that we pay so much. This does not happen in other sports. Now there are more races, so more points are scored,” he says.
And he explains it: “In 2018 there were 21 races. No sprints or points for fastest lap. Now there are 23 Grands Prix planned in 2023. There are 443 points more than in 2018… about 900,000 euros more for the FIA”.
“It is an absurd and disproportionate amount,” the Dutchman sentenced ‘ServusTV’.
