Esteban Ocon it lasted a couple of laps at the Hungarian GP. The Frenchman, who last year almost killed Fernando Alonso as soon as he started, had an accident with his teammate, Pierre Gasly, at the start of the Hungaroring event. In large part, thanks to Guanyu Zhou.
Because the Chinese, who started fifth, stayed practically stopped at the exit. He braked late, very late, and tagged Ricciardo to start a domino effect that put the Alpines out.
Now, the one from Évreux has recognized that the impact was stronger than it seemed at first: “My seat broke in two pieces.”
“That was the strong blow. I got out of the car and I thought it was the suspension that broke… but no. It was the seat,” he says.
And he continues, putting a lot on the ground of others in relation to the accident: “There was plenty of space. He had the position, he was surrounded to the car inside and I was tight with Gasly”.
“I came out with soft rubber, so his goal was to gain enough positions at the start. But the problem was the blow from behind that took both of us out,” he says.
