Before… a bit of history
The Heuer Carrera saw the light of day in 1963 and his name was chosen by Jack Heuer because he knew of a car race that had been held in Mexico a decade ago, those who knew the grueling ordeal told Mr. Heuer in detail details that led him to name his new chronograph that way.

In the eighties, the Swiss watchmaking house, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and founded in 1860, was bought by the technology conglomerate TAG (Techniques dÁvant Garde) whose owner was Mansour Ojjeh -also a major shareholder of McLaren F1 in those years- and since then the brand shield was transformed and included the word TAG.

In the 90s things at TAG Heuer were not going as expected, they had launched a line of affordable quartz watches made of plastic and with a strong identity linked to Formula 1but the good coup in those years was when the brand decided to relaunch already discontinued editions of watches that had been very successful in other times and thus the first reissue of the Heuer Carrera Chronograph of similar size -36 mm- with a Lemania caliber of manual winding and with plexiglass, in addition to the option of a white or black cover and as cultural data only the HEUER emblem was visible on the dial, a fact that did not confuse the fans, on the contrary, it was very well received. These pieces were an immediate success and today they are sought-after collector’s items.

The Heuer emblem has also remained in place – without the TAG initials – and topped by the word Carrera.

The color scheme of the original model is carried over to the new version, including black stripes on the central hands and hour markers, double stop at 12, and black counters with white markings for better contrast.
