Carlos Sainz leaves the door open to a possible exit Ferrari in 2025. Despite acknowledging that it is a decision that has yet to be assessed during the summer break, at the press conference prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix He was not forceful about clarifying his future.
Ferrari already said that the renewals of Charles Leclerc and Sainz (they end their contract in 2024) were on hold because they had to focus on improving performance, an opinion shared by the Madrid native: “I agree that now our highest priority is that of the future of its drivers.”
In addition, he recognized that not even he himself has assessed a possible renewal given the intensity of the calendar: “For me, there have been many consecutive races in which you cannot sit down and think about your future not a minute, in what he will do and in what you hope for the next two or three years, because there are many great prizes in a row and it is difficult”.
“I am not going to lie, during the august break i will start to think about what makes me happyor whatever, and I think there will be time to think about where I will be competing in 2025,” he added, setting a date to assess his future.
Although he leaves the door open to any option, Sainz remains focused on Ferrari: “I agree with Fred, who the highest priority is Ferrari, and it is also mine. To be competitive with the team, not only this year, but also the next one, in which I have a contract, to make a better car and be in a better place than we are now.”
