He uses a Grinch doll to get around a busy lane… but the police catch him and, of course, fine him.
We Spaniards and the citizens of Mediterranean countries are famous for putting into practice actions of picaresque in order to avoid payingbut actions like the one we tell you about show us that “faces” are all over the planet.
In this case, we are going to the state of Arizona, in the United States, where an officer from the state Department of Public Safety observed a driver speeding in the high-occupancy vehicle lane on Interstate 10 with a green “suspicious looking” passenger in the passenger seat.
Festive, but illegal
Sure enough, when the driver was pulled over, the state trooper determined that “the grumpy green guy was, in fact, an inflatable Grinch. The department shared a photo of the bloated Grinch, waving his right arm with a red and white bandana around his neck next to the blurry driver.
While police maintain they enjoyed the “holiday style” of the attempted hoax, the driver has been issued a citation for driving alone in the HOV lane, which is illegal. It should be noted that HOV lanes can only be used by cars with a minimum of two people on board. And when we say people, we mean real people, flesh and blood, and not inflatable toys.
What is HOV lane?
This is not the first time that similar tactics have been discovered to be able to use the high occupancy lanes in the United States. In March of last year, a person in Los Angeles was caught using a mannequin super realistic to evade HOV bans.
According to the driver, he had been using the wrist to drive in the HOV lane. for a year and a half» before they were caught Of course, the doll looked much more like a real human than an inflatable doll. He even had wrinkles, a baseball cap, and an anti-Covid mask.
