The Monaco ePrix begins to define the candidates

the new zealand Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing) went on to lead the world of formula e after an impressive victory in the Monaco ePrix, the ninth round of the 2023 season in the electric category.

Cassidy started from ninth on the grid but managed to finish ahead of his compatriot Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing), after the safety car entry on the final lap secured his win.

The British Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti Formula E Team) was unable to keep up with the leaders but managed to move from eleventh on the grid to take third place on the podium. While the Argentine franc sacha fenestraz (Nissan Formula E Team) finished fourth ahead of the Englishman jake hughes (NEOM McLaren Formula E Team).

The German pascal wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E), who had come as the leader of the series at this event, finished 11th after starting 12th. This caused both him and his team to lose the lead in their respective championships.

On the other hand, the French Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske), another title contender, managed to rally from last on the grid after tire pressure violations took his time out of qualifying. The feat of overtaking 15 opponents earned Vergne first prize ABB Driver of Progress in history, which honors smart and efficient driving with the highest number of places won in a race.

His teammate and defending champion, the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne (DS Penke), also managed to get into the points with a ninth place.

With this victory, added to the one achieved last time out in Berlin, Cassidy leads the drivers’ table with 121 points, followed by Wehrlein with 100. Dennis and Evans are very close with 96 and 94 points, respectively.

Regarding the team championship, Envision Racing is placed on top with 182 points, 14 points ahead of TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team with 168. Formula E will continue in berlin next month.
