The natural habitat of a Citroën Ami is not a circuit, even if it is urban, as you can see in this video in which it rolls over.
The Citroën Ami, as you well know, is an electric quadricycle that the French brand sells in Europe with the aim of attracting the youngest public that does not have a driving license. It attracts attention due to its peculiar appearance, which Citroën herself makes jokes about, and is mainly focused on urban commuting.
And it is that it does not give for much more. This is because it has an 8.2 CV electric drive that allows it to reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h and have a range up to 75 km on a single charge. It seems that we were all quite clear that this is an urban mobility solution. All? As we see in this video, an aspiring racing driver wanted to show that he was more than that.
Imitating the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix with an Ami
and has done facing the famous hairpin of the Grand Hotelwhich is part of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix with this vehicle that is only 2.41 meters long and 1.39 meters wide.
And although the first attempt, on the ascent, was uneventful, on the way down, Ami turns to the side, after the small wheels struggled for a grip and ended up lifting off the ground. The little Citroën crashed into the pavement posts and no pedestrians were injured, but it’s unclear what happened to the driver, although considering the relatively low speed at which it occurred, we’re assuming no serious injuries.
Electric cars without a license: the best options
The hairpin of the Grand Hotel is one of the slowest corners of the Monaco Grand PrixWith F1 cars sometimes slowing down to just 30 mph, it’s no surprise that a cube-shaped vehicle like the Citroën Ami would go sideways because it was over-accelerated too hard.
The absence of electronic assistants (French microcar has no traction control or ABS) did not help and gravity and inertia did the rest for this accident to occur.
