This could be the facelift of the Volkswagen Taigun

As we have told you in previous notes, Volkswagen moved the production of the T-Cross from Brazil (from where it came to Mexico) to India, current country of origin. In “the trip”, the small SUV also changed its name to Taigun, while her Brazilian “sister” kept hers. The brand says that it was a matter of commercial strategy, or what is the same: costs, but the reality is that we have lived with both products and Brazilian T-Cross is perceived much better in several areas.

Now, returning to the T-Cross, from the country of Rio de Janeiro Volksagen announces an important redesign that, if “commercial issues” allow it, we could also see it in the Taigun that arrives in Mexico from India, what is it about?

Volkswagen T-Cross/Taigun: Restyling

In the case of a redesign, simple components and wheel model are touched. Among the novelties, the Volkswagen SUV debuts:

  • LED strip in grill that extends to the headlights
  • LRD lights (IQ.Light on some versions)
  • DLR and simulated side air intakes
  • Larger lower grill
  • 16 and 17 inch wheels
  • New lighting design in the rear taillights

Volkswagen T-Cross/Taigun: Interior update

The interior of the European version of the T-Cross, which was already different from that of other markets, presents new features that include:

  • More careful materials
  • standard digital instrumentation
  • New 8″ or 10″ multimedia screen, depending on version

Volkswagen T-Cross/Taigun: Engines and transmissions

The Volkswagen T-Cross range in Europe offers different versions including the sporty R-Line profile, which we would like to see in Mexico. The engines available, at least in Europe, are:

  • 95 Hp and 116 Hp TSI associated with 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed DSG automatic.
  • 1.5 TSI (evo2) with four cylinders and 150 Hp combined with a 7-speed DSG box.
  • Traction is always front.

When will the renewal of the Volkswagen Taigun in Mexico?

The updated Volkswagen T-Cross will begin sales in Europe in 2024. The SUV was unveiled in 2018, and at least at Volkswagen Brazil, some testing has begun. Now in Mexico Taigun is a “young” silhouette, but the logical step with it would be to tie it with the global model (T-Cross), although practically and technically they are the same. We will see if any order reaches India from Wolfsburg.
