The Bugatti Chiron Profilée records a new auction record as almost 10 million euros have been paid for it, excluding taxes…
Just before the end of 2022 we told you that in February RM Sotheby’s was going to hold a very special auction in Paris… and boy, was it! There, a unique copy fresh from Bugatti’s Molsheim factory has reached the stratospheric figure of 9,792,500 euros -without taxes-, which makes it the most expensive new car in the world. Undoubtedly, you can imagine that we are not talking about just any Bugatti… to tell the truth, none is, but this Chiron Profile will also go down in history as the last one to boast the sublime 8-liter W16 engine with four turbos and 1,500 hp.
Bugatti Mistral: the swan song of the W16 engine
The most fanatics of the brand will have linked this jewel with another no less important one, the Type 46 Surprofilée that the magnificent Jean Bugatti devised adding to the base of the Type 46 a more extensive and aerodynamic rear end. Indeed, the 21st century Profilée also has that nod to its rear in the form of a spoiler ducktail perfectly integrated on the engine cover. Likewise, it shows off many other specific details such as the Argent Atlantique body color (unpublished until now) or the design of the wheels that multiplies the mythical horseshoe always linked to Bugatti by five.

Knowing, therefore, how special this unique unit is for the lineage of the French firm, everyone could expect an even more exorbitant price than any other Bugatti has accustomed us… but what perhaps no one was considering is that it was going to reach close to 10 million.
“With only one Chiron Profilée left to exist, it was important to us to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to own this part of history and we were excited by the fervor of the global automotive community for this very special car. Bidders clearly recognized the importance and value of the Chiron Profilee, with an intense rivalry and a price that puts this car firmly in the history books,” says Hendrik Malinowski, CEO of Bugatti Automobiles.
