In a state of the United States they want to prohibit driving with “an animal of any size on oneself”… and it has gotten mixed up.
Friends of animals, more specifically of dogs, have just received bad news, very bad if you live in New Hampshire, United States, as a law is being discussed that will prohibit driving with “an animal of any size on oneself”.
This all stems from an initiative by Republican state representative Jennifer Rhodes, who wrote the bill after see a girl almost get run over by a car driven by a man holding two small dogs in one arm and petting them with the other.

“I had a golden opportunity to make a positive change, so I did it,” Rhodes explained. “I thought it was a no-brainer.” However, the public response has not been as positive as might be expected, flooding the representative’s mailbox with emails showing her anger at the possibility that the law would go ahead. Rhodes even recalls that one writer argued that a well-behaved dog when restrained by a driver would be less distracting than an animal barking from the back seat.
And it is that New Hampshire is special. It is the only state that allows adults to drive without wearing seat belts. in the U.S. The new law, if approved, is not that it was too restrictive.

According to the American press, compared to the New Jersey law that requires pets to be kept in a pet carrier or attached to the seat, proposed legislation in New Hampshire is quite permissive: you just can’t take your pet in the driver’s seat.
“If you want your dog to be in the back seat and stick his head out the window, great. Do you want your dog to be in the passenger seat with you? That’s great. All we’re trying to do is say that the dog should not be on you at all”Rhodes concludes.
