In these times when everything is electrification en masse, a little down size with high performance goes down very well to those who like to improve the performance of their car. We have a couple of examples with the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, the latter recently “touched” by VF Tuner specialists, known for developing electronic packages that get the best of engines that are already very competent from the factory.
As we well know, the Toyota GR Corolla uses a small three-cylinder engine that generates 300 hp, a very decent number for a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine which also has numerous accessories that contribute to optimizing its performance, however, the experience of the VF Tuner guys was noted with a new mapping for the hatchback ECU that allows, in addition to improving performance, optimizing performance of the car.
Through the OBII port, the new VF Tuner “file” can be uploaded to the car’s computer, easily, without opening or disassembling anything. Once the program runs, the ECU makes electronic adjustments to the entire engine thatIn short, they allow you to increase 44 horsepower (344 Hp in total).
The benefits are not only in the increase in power. Many parameters such as injection, mixture and fuel consumption are optimized. In addition, in another package, the user can upgrade the fuel pump, or even customize some parameters in his car:
- limit torque
- 4WD Features
- BOV (relief valve) closing and opening ranges.
VF Tuner is currently working on a version of their programs that can be “loaded” while the car is running, Similar to the one that many high-end sports cars use in their driving modes. The good news is that this performance package is also available for Toyota GR Yarisa model that we do have in Mexico and by the way, sales literally flew.
