A very particular auction was recently held in France, where the Rouillac house organized an event where nothing less than the most expensive Citroën 2CV in history was sold. And the particular thing about the case is that we are not talking about a historical model, but about a transformation that consisted of replacing the entire bodywork and interior with pieces of wood.
The creation was in charge of Michel Robillardwho first introduced the rare vehicle to the audience before auctioning it off, breaking his voice a couple of times, especially when he explained that he sold his creation to turn the page after the death of his wife.
The sale started at 150,000 euros and the bid reached 170,000 eurosalthough in reality the buyer, Jean-Paul Favand, founder of the Musée des Arts forains in Paris, disbursed a total of 210,000 euros for taxes included.
This wooden Citroën 2CV has a body and passenger compartment that have been restored with walnut, pear, apple and cherry wood. A 1966 Dyane 6 engine was mounted on it, a little more powerful to compensate for the greater weight of the wood, but in the end the 2 CV only gained 15 kg after all the modificationssince the woods used were quite light and the work very refined.
Beyond being filled with wood, this 1957 Citroën runs perfectly and only has 6,000 km on the odometerbut since he does not have a circulation permit, he cannot go out on the street. That will not be a problem for the buyer, since his idea is to have it on display for the public of his museum.
