Present for more than 20 years in the market, the Volkswagen Touareg is going through its third generationunveiled globally in 2018. Therefore, its mid-cycle update (in Europe) is approaching, the same about which the German brand has just revealed a lot of information.

Through a large number of images, Volkswagen advanced how the Touareg update will look on the outside and inside. He did it with a unit that he tested on snowy roads in Sweden, and whose bodywork was completely camouflaged, which also did not prevent key parts of the renovation from being visible.
Although the photographed vehicle was the sporty-style version of the SUV (Touareg R), new features could be seen that will reach the entire range of the model, such as:

Being the Touareg R, the camouflaged unit had blue brake calipers, sport wheels and the “R” badge. in various sectors, among other details. Similarly, the base Touareg is also expected to add redesigned wheels.

As for the interior, the Touareg will not have major changes. As seen in the photos, it maintains the Innovision Cockpit set, made up of a 12.3” screen for the instrument panel.and another for the multimedia system, 15”, but the software they use has been updated.
On the other hand, the wheel the Touareg did not receive any modification, so Volkswagen decided not to implement its new policy of leaving aside the touch buttons, as reported last November. In addition, there was a renewal of upholstery, both in the armrests and in the center console, with materials more sensitive to touch.
The renewal of the Touareg will also include innovations in mechanics. Although there will be no changes in its motorization, will keep the 3.0L V6 TDi and V6 TSI and plug-in hybrids that are marketed in other markets, all linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and 4Motion traction. VW worked on the suspension, in order to improve comfort and performance, as well as on the stabilizer bars. Changes are also expected in the electronics, by incorporating a sensor to detect the load on the roof, and thus improve the stability of the SUV. Finally, it will include developments in stability control.
