Alpine He left the preseason satisfied despite the fact that his times were far from the best. But with the passing of the weeks they have assumed reality. They are the fifth team and Esteban Ocon He is not at all happy after what happened in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Eight points have been added by the team between Ocon and Pierre Gasley. A score that shows that they have not improved at all compared to last year, when Fernando Alonso He suffered greatly from all the failures that accumulated week after week. And now Alpine has a new problem: Haas.
The North American team says that after one lap they are already as fast as them. Guenther Steinerhead of Haas, has commented in ‘Auto Motor und Sport’: “The positive news is that we are competitive and, one lap, we are as fast as Alpine”.
“Our two drivers can enter Q3, in Jeddah, for example, Nico had the bad luck that one of his laps was cancelled,” he commented.
“The pressure for his second Q2 attempt cost him a tenth and a half in the last corner and in the case of Kevin (Magnussen), It had a lag downshift gearbox. Without that problem, I would have gone through to Q3 as well. in the last classification”, has detailed Steiner.
The improvements come to Haas and they want to continue progressing on the grid: “There are many factors at play that we can influence and clear examples are the aerodynamic and mechanical balance, they also play an important role.”
“In Jeddah, fortunately, we open our locker and the middle zone is so close at the moment that each point is worth gold”, he has sentenced.
