I said it in the test of the Volkswagen Multivan T7 and I repeat it again. I have tested many Volkswagen Group plug-in hybrids on the MQB platform, that mixture of a 1.4 TSI with an electric motor, with 218 CV of total power combined… and I think it is the one that has convinced me the most. Yes, despite being the one with the least autonomy in electric mode (the battery has a net capacity of 10.4 kWh).
Why? For starters that battery has arranged on the floor of the vehicle, not under the trunk, and in this minivan the excess weight is not as noticeable as in other models. Like them, it obtains the Zero label and all its added advantages, in addition to being able to travel daily in electric mode, with hardly any cost. And on trips? Here came the surprise: the aerodynamic improvements of the Multivan 2022 (which no longer has to do with the Transporter) and its weight, much lower than its predecessor, have achieved a hybrid minivan with better consumption than the previous Multivan T6.1 diesel. . With both we made the same trip to Galicia:
Beware, it is not perfect. To begin with, you must have a very healthy current account, since its price starts from €56,290 starting if you choose this interesting hybrid engine, which reaches €72,720 with a higher finish. For now it has no rivals with this technology, but it is a more than considerable figure.
Also, one expects not luxury, but a more careful interior. They are not bad, they improve on the previous ones, but before one could forgive them since it was based on a commercial model… and now it uses the base of a tourism. And that has not lowered prices. Also, for a large minivan, we’d like more storage compartments and some physical buttons. This last prayer seems not to have fallen on deaf ears.
