On November 21, coinciding with Television Day, the 2023 Iris Awards gala will be held in which the winners will be announced. The Television Academy has already announced the nominated series and below we will tell you what they are about and on which platform or channel you can see them.
‘The nights of Tefía’ -atresplayer
Just released, the series of Michael of the Arc which tells the story of the prisoners in a Francoist concentration camp for homosexuals it takes four of the ten nominations from the Atresmedia platform. The first four episodes are now available on atresplayer and a new installment arrives every Sunday until the six-episode season is complete. Patrick Criado, Miquel Fernández, Jorge Perrugoría or Carolina Yuste are some of the protagonists of this choral series that portrays a dark and unknown chapter of our history. In fiction, those convicted by virtue of the change in 1954 of the law on vagrants and thugs find a space of freedom in the imaginary music-hall ‘El Tindaya’.
‘Thistle’ T2 -atresplayer

‘Christ and King’ -atresplayer
Belen Cuesta is nominated for best actress for her role as Bárbara Rey in the series ‘Christ and King’ that portrays the stormy relationship of what was the couple of the moment in the 80s formed by the star and actress Bárbara Rey and the tamer and circus businessman Ángel Cristo. ‘The Route’ -atresplayer
The atreplayer series on the phenomenon of the Ruta del Bakalao told through the story of five friends takes another two nominations. Five of the seven Movistar Plus+ series nominations are for the third season of this series that only improves with each installment. The fiction follows an anti-terrorist unit that this time will be at the center of the action when they are about to complete an investigation. Recently released, it is available on Movistar Plus+.
‘Rapa’ -Movistar Plus+
The fiction of the Coira brothers starring Marta López and Javier Cámara is another of the titles graced with a nomination at the Iris Awards. The series is a thriller set in Galicia and follows Maite, a Civil Guard agent in the investigation of a crime on the Costa da Morte in which she will have the help of an amateur detective, the high school teacher and ALS patient Tomás . ‘Easy’ -Movistar Plus+
Anna Castillo takes the nomination for ‘Easy’ for her performance in the series that follows several women with functional diversity who want to live together and independently in a supervised apartment in Barcelonet. Along with her, the cast is headed by Natalia de Molina, Anna Marchessi and Coria Castillo, among other performers. ‘Dating Barcelona’ -Prime Video
This series is one of the latest releases on the Prime Video platform and is one of those short and pleasant series that can be seen on any summer afternoon. Through its six chapters, the series explores love in times of Tinder and has an ensemble cast to narrate two dates in each episode, except for the last one, which is a wink for ‘Compañeros’ fans as it stars the actors who gave life to Quimi (Antonio Hortelano) and Valle (Eva Santolaria), although their story is that of an old summer love and not that of the Azcona students.
‘Better Days’ -Prime Video
Blanca Portillo and Marta Hazas are the two members of the ‘Días Mejor’ cast nominated for their performance in the series that follows the process of overcoming five characters who meet in a peculiar grief therapy for parents who have lost their partner . Portillo gives life to Dr. Laforet and Hazas gets into the shoes of Sara, a woman who has just lost her husband and must deal with the fears and phobias of her son Fede de ella. The series is available on the platform along with a second installment that follows the stories of all the protagonists.
‘No Traces’ -Prime Video
Carolina Yuste and Camila Sodi they are the protagonists of this series that is a mix of genres that goes from comedy, to thriller and action adventure series, or western in the blink of an eye. The actresses get into the shoes of Catalina and Desi, two cleaners who set up a business on their own and in one of their first assignments they find a corpse and a bag full of money, although they don’t know this at first. Thus begins a race against time through Alicante and Almería fleeing from the Russian mafia and the police, while trying to find out who would want to get them into this mess.
‘Alpha Males’ -Netflix
The series of the brothers Laura and Alberto Caballero It became one of the comedies of the year until it was renewed for a second season that will soon arrive on Netflix. With two nominations, the series explores the journey of four forty-somethings through their masculinity. Santi (Gorka Otxoa), Luis (Fele Martínez), Pedro (Fernando Gil) and Raúl (Raúl Tejón) are the typical brothers-in-law at any meeting who begin to discover, through gags, that they have less and less place in a changing society. .
‘The ones in the last row’ -Netflix
Daniel Sánchez Arévalo signs the endearing story of a group of friends who embark on the journey of their lives after learning that one of them has cancer. In their journey they travel through their past, their present and their future willing to do things that they did not dare at the time or that they do not want to leave pending. Mónica Miranda, Godeliv Van Den Brant, María Rodríguez Soto, Itsaso Araña and Mariona Terrés are the protagonists of the fiction available on Netflix.
‘The Snow Girl’ -Netflix
The adaptation of the novel by Javier Castillo is a suffocating Netflix thriller about loss, guilt, and overcoming trauma. Starring Milena Smit together with Aixa Villagrán, José Coronado, Loreto Mauléon, Raúl Prieto and Cecilia Freire, the plot follows the investigation of the disappearance of Amaya in the 2010 Three Kings parade in the small city of Malaga. The case has a special impact on the life of a young journalist who follows the case and, of course, on that of her parents until the case turns upside down. The success of ‘The Snow Girl’ has given rise to adaptation of the second novel ‘El juego del alma’ and also of another work by Castillo, ‘El cuco de cristal’.
‘The invisible girl’ -Disney+
This series is another of the nominated thrillers and in this case it also takes us to a small Andalusian town. There, the murder of a young teenager during the local festivals disrupts the lives of the neighbors. The fiction adapts the trilogy of novels by Francisco de Paula in eight episodes and follows the investigation of the case. The police officer is also the father of another teenager who knew the victim and the atmosphere of the town in which everyone knows each other and everyone hides something becomes stifling.
‘The Invisibles’ -SkyShowtime
This series also starts with a death with which Héctor Lozano and Menná Fité go from the Philosophy classes of ‘Merlí’, to the demands of the hotel maids, better known as the kellys. Lolita is one of the protagonists and is nominated for her role as Esperanza.
