The YangWang U8 is a huge luxury electric SUV with aesthetics similar to the Land Rover Defender and with a power of 1,115 hp.
BYD has just presented its YangWang sub-brand in China and has done so with the launch of the YangWang U9 (an electric supercar) and the YangWang U8, a all-electric luxury off-road beast that promises more than 1,100 CV.
Aesthetically, the YangWang U8 reminds us of a Land Rover Defender, although its dimensions are larger, with 5.3 meters long, two meters wide and a wheelbase of around 3 meters. Its mechanics is totally different, since it has four electric motors that offer a combined power of more than 1,115 hp.

In the U8, each electric motor develops between 220 and 240 kW (299 and 326 PS) and a torque of between 320 and 420 Nm, resulting in a combined output of more than 1,115 PS. This allows this large SUV accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds. It also has advanced functions for vectoring the torque to the all-wheel drive system, which, according to the Chinese manufacturer, is one hundred times faster than a conventional one.
Furthermore, BYD claims that the U8 can rotate 360 degrees on itself, it has a “crab” mode (to move diagonally) and another to float in the water thanks to a bodywork, as well as specific driving modes for off-road scenarios. To do this, it is equipped with IP68 waterproof technology for the engine and body sealing that allows the SUV to float on water.
