All the forecasts that suggested a close fight for the victory between Checo Pérez and Max Verstappen in Miami, went to waste after the spectacular race carried out by the world champion on the circuit built around the Hard Rock Stadium.
The Dutchman started from ninth position after failing in Q3 of Saturday’s qualifying (he made a mistake on his first attempt and then was handicapped by the red flag caused by the mistake of Charles Leclerc), but quickly fell behind “Czech “, who started perfectly from pole position and did not leave any room for surprise from Fernando Alonso, who started from his side.

Unlike the entire field, which opted for a medium/hard tire strategy, Verstappen used hard tyres, avoided any setbacks at the start, and then started a spectacular 46-lap stint outpacing his rivals, quickly overtaking to those who preceded him, to place second after only 15 laps covered.
Two laps later, the Dutchman was already three seconds behind the Mexican, who announced that his tires were beginning to lose grip. On lap 21, “Checo” Pérez was called to change tires and put “hard”, while Alonso did the same on lap 25. Meanwhile, Verstappen, as a front man, kept up a devilish pace and it was clear that he would end up with the ultimate victory.

With just a few laps to go, Verstappen changed his tires, started less than two seconds behind Pérez, and didn’t take long to overtake him, to head towards his third victory of the year, with the bonus point for the Fast Lap, and increase your lead in the driver standings.
Pérez had to settle for second and Alonso returns to the podium for the fourth time in five races. For Red Bull everything looks good. He has won all five races and the fight for the title will be between his drivers.
