Alfa Romeo decided to start the year on its social networks with a video where it welcomes 2023, saying that it will be an “exciting, visceral and emotional” year. Following the rhythm of the music, the images follow one another dizzyingly showing us models of the Italian brand such as the Tonale, the Giulia and the Stevio. But in the end, the rear light of a vehicle, hitherto unknown, appears for a few moments.
This LED tail light has the clear appearance of a 6 and a C, something that feeds the rumors that the next Alfa sports car will have the name of 6C. This designation is not new, as it was used on various sports and racing cars produced by Alfa Romeo between 1927 and 1954.
If we think that in the recent era, we had the Alfa romeo 8C Competizione and the 4C Competizione, it would not be surprising (and we would even say it is logical) that the next sports car respects the even numbers and is located in the middle, just like 6C .
Yeah, we know, we’re speculating on a new sporty model just for a second where we’re shown a taillight. But watch out this does not come alone, Alfa Romeo executives had already given some clues in interviews, revealing that the brand is preparing a supercar with an aesthetic inspired by iconic models from its history, most notably the 33 Stradale. The head of design, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, also backed up the rumors saying that they will have a surprise reveal soon.

Returning to the field of speculation, Rumors hold that this future vehicle will have a combustion engine based on the 2.9 L biturbo V6 used by Giulia GTAm or if the brand will bet on 100% electric mobility, making use of the technology already used by other group products such as the Maserati Folgore. The truth is that the brand has already mentioned that the vehicle will be combustion, so the first theory is greatly reinforced at least until 2027, when the brand is supposed to become electric. Whatever the choice, the emotion will not be lacking.
The good thing is that to know the truth it won’t be long, surely for the first half of this new 2023 we will already have the vehicle presented.
