Mick Schumacher will not be in Formula 1 in 2023. The German did not find a place on the grid after his departure from Haas and will be a reserve driver for Mercedes the next season. And the North American team has explained that they did not offer him that position because he would have been “a bit creepy”.
The son of the seven-time Formula 1 champion leaves the grid after two years in the American team, replaced by veteran Nico Hulkenberg, in two seasons marked by several costly accidents that have been the main argument for his non-continuation.
Guenther Steinerhead of the Haas team, explained to ‘GPFans’ that they didn’t even offer him the reserve position: “To be honest, I didn’t ask him (if he wanted the position). He didn’t tell me anything and I didn’t want to. It’s difficult for someone who has driven for a team to be relegated to reserve. I don’t think he would have been happy with that.”
