An F1 legend ‘condemns’ Charles Leclerc to continue at Ferrari: “He has no other options”

Charles Leclerc has no choice but to stay at Ferrari. It is the opinion of damon hillformer Formula 1 driver and world champion in 1996. The Briton believes that none of the teams at the top of the table are interested in incorporating the Monegasque, so he would have no choice but to continue wearing red.

Leclerc arrived at Ferrari in 2019after amazing the entire ‘paddock’ in his debut season with alfa romeo. In his first year with the Maranello team he achieved two victories and beat Sebastian Vettelwho until then was the undisputed leader of Ferrari.

The great sensation that the then team manager, Mattia Binotto, caused at the end of 2019 to renew for five seasons, until 2024, becoming the longest contract in the history of Ferrari.

With a year and a half left to finish his relationship with the ‘Scuderia’, various rumors have placed Leclerc outside the Italian team. His entourage has hinted that the driver would not be happy with the performance of the SF-23 and that he would be willing to head to Mercedes if Lewis Hamilton retired.

However, everything indicates that the seven times world champion will continue in the star team, which fwould force Leclerc to renew with Ferrari. This is how Damon Hill sees it, who believes that none of the leading teams would be interested in incorporating the Monegasque.

“If we look at the ‘top’ teams we will realize that they will very possibly continue with the same drivers. I don’t think Leclerc can switch to one of them.. Red Bull? I have no hesitation in saying that it has no chance. Mercedes?, Toto Wolff will continue with Hamilton until he decides to retire. so i think has no other outlet than Ferrari“, Hill has assured in statements collected by ‘Soymotor’.

Despite this, Hill believes that Leclerc could get fed up and look for a way out: “The clearest option for him is to continue at Ferrari… although if the car doesn’t improve he will surely start looking around“.

In fact, the former British driver assures that the negative spiral into which Ferrari has entered is weighing down the Monegasque: “I think Charles is blocked by Ferrari. Sometimes he has shone, but this has not been enough to be able to fight for the titles with continuity. And on the other hand keep making mistakeseven in Classification”.

Charles Leclerc finds himself at a crossroads with no escape. Red Bull, Mercedes and Aston Martin have their seats covered with top-level drivers, so they have no incentive to try to sign the Monegasque, so it is likely that he will have no other option than to negotiate the renewal with Ferrari.
