The Citroën Ami, since its launch, has boasted of being a mobility solution. It has never been classified as a car for use, in fact, it is a light quadricycle that can be driven without a type B license (with the AM license it would do). And what better than being able to improve the mobility of those people who have it more conditioned. He Citroën Ami for All It is a project of the French brand that has been carried out so that people with some physical disabilities do not see their autonomy reduced for any reason.
Very focused on those wheelchair users, the Ami “for everyone” is a prototype very close to production with really interesting solutions. To carry it out, the French firm had the collaboration of the specialist PIMAS, who helped them make notable modifications. It started by increase the opening angle of the doors of the driver, which already has a beneficial arrangement thanks to its reverse opening. It is accompanied by a removable and retractable shelf so that the person can access the passenger compartment, with the help of a strap fixed to the roof if necessary.
Once on board, the user has a knob that facilitates the grip of the steering wheel and will help when making maneuvers. The conventional pedals are maintained, but a new feature is added. mechanical lever to make a manual control both accelerator and brake by simply pulling or pushing it. The small Citroën Ami for All also has the capacity to transport a wheelchair despite its contained dimensions that barely reach 2.4 meters in length and 1.39 meters in width.
It can be put in the hole left in front of the passenger, removing the wheels and fixing them with special straps, while the body of the chair fits in the seat, secured by a specific safety belt. If you want two people to travel inside, there is also the option for the wheelchair to be fixed on the outside thanks to a aluminum luggage rack. It may even be covered by a protective canvas so that there is no further damage.
With these solutions, the Citroën Ami for All can become an ideal option for many people. Always focused on a purely urban use, as it maintains that autonomy of up to 75 kilometers thanks to the 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. It only remains to be seen if the French brand is encouraged to put it into production and the price it would have at its market launch.
