“Aston Martin should be able to win”

It is not very usual to see the president of a sports organization shamelessly flatter a specific driver and ‘forget’ about the rest. Well, this is what happened with the president of the FIA, Mohammed ben Sulayem.

Analyzing equipment prospects on the rise as Alpine, McLaren or Aston Martinwhich are investing and developing to ‘hunt’ Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedesthe president has not stopped to talk about Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon or Pierre Gaslybut has set an example for the Silverstone team and in Fernando Alonso.

Ben Sulayem considers that, given the pharaonic inversion of Lawrence Stroll factory and engineers, as well as the signing of a two-time world champion in Formula 1 like Alonso, the green team will be able to start winning in two or three years.

“They should be able to do it, they are investing for it, they are on the way and they have a ready pilot like Fernando. I think so, but winning is very complicated. The same thing happens with Ferrari; they don’t win, but it’s not because they are slow, management, reliability or both are also important”, he pointed out in statements collected by ‘Motorsport.com’.

“I think Aston Martin, with Stroll, is trying things signing a new pilot and new staffa new discipline, which is also very important”, added the FIA president, whose words imply that he sees the British team a step ahead in terms of expectations that Alpine and McLaren.
