In the framework of the centenary of BMW Motorrad, the BMW motorcycle division, The Bavarian brand decided to review its history by holding an impressive exhibition in the museum it owns in Münich, Germany. For this celebration, the BMW Museum is divided into 15 stations, differentiated by different themes: designers, iconic motorcycles, motor sports, advertising, electric mobility and the link between motorcycles and customers, for example.
The presentation, which has more than 55 motorcycles on display, has as its main premise to compare the brand’s historic motorcycles with other current ones, to show how the conception of these two-wheeled vehicles has changed over time, be it their bodywork, motorization and comfort, among other details. Some of the bikes on display come from the BMW Group Classic collection, and have the particularity that they are on display to the public for the first time. In addition, all kinds of pieces are also presented, such as fuel tanks, seats, lights, helmets, etc.
One of the most outstanding sectors is comprised of two units that made history on the Isle of Man, where what could be considered the most difficult motorcycle competition in the world takes place every year. We are talking about a BMW R 255 Kompressor, driven to victory by Schorsch Meier in 1939, and a BMW S 1000 RR, a winner with Michael Dunlop in 2014.
How could it be otherwise, the show that celebrates 100 years of BMW Motorrad also features its pure technology sectorssuch as interactive stations. There, visitors can get on a BMW R 25 from the 50s, or a current BMW S 1000 RR, for example.
