“Sincerely, that is not our goal; ours is to take a step forward in 2023, another in 2024. There are no miracles in Formula 1because last year Aston Martin was seventh in the constructors’ championship, so we’ll see what we can do,” he said in statements collected by ‘Motorsport’.
“I think it is unrealistic to think that we will be close to the top three, so we are going step by step,” he added.
Of course, as Alonso himself explained, he spoke without seeing the barbarity of times that he had marked: “I haven’t checked the times, but the car seems to be running well. We have tried different routes with different configurations, and what we picked up was positive, although it is a sign that we must find a philosophy compared to last year’s car.”
