Chevrolet will not develop a rival for RAM 1500 TRX and Ford Lobo Raptor R

stellantis Y Ford They are immersed in a war to see who is capable of developing the most powerful pickup in the world. On the one hand, we have the RAM 1500 TRX and on the other, the Ford Lobo Raptor R. Both pickups mount powerful supercharged V8s with more than 700 horsepower and great off-road capacity.

When General Motors introduced the Cheyenne ZR2, we thought it would be a matter of time before it joined its rivals. However, everything seems to indicate that this will not be the case. At least, that’s what Duncan Aldred, global vice president for Buick and GMC, pointed out to our colleagues at the GM Authority.

“I don’t see that that’s really our position. We have no plans to do that. when you have a Hummer EV in your portfolio the other vehicles look a bit ordinary. In my opinion, I don’t think we need anything else in that space.”said.

Definitely, the decision is more for other issues, than for lack of technology, since General Motors is perfectly capable of mounting a supercharged V8 under the hood of the Cheyenne / Silverado. Furthermore, certainly the GMC Hummer EV places them slightly above the competition, only with the advantage of being a zero emission vehicle.

Thus, those who want something more powerful than a ZR2 will have to go to the aftermarket.
