Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll they are spending their first days of work together. Both at the factory working side by side and discovering how coexistence in the team will be. So far the Canadian driver has only had words of praise: “He is a great talent.”
In statements collected by ‘Motorsport’, Stroll talks about what his ideal teammate is like: “What you want in a teammate is a guy be on top of your game. It means that when you get more out of it than him, you’re really at the top of your game.”
“I think that’s what you want from the team at the end of the day, and also that they know if you’re pushing each other and always getting the most out of the car and the package,” Stroll details.
This is how their first talks as colleagues have been: “We have spent some time together, we have chatted. He’s a good guy and he’s a great driver, he’s a great talent.”
“It’s also interesting listen to what someone with this kind of experience says, I’m looking forward to having him in the team and working with him,” says Stroll of the two-time Formula 1 champion.
On the other hand, he is convinced that the new blood will be very beneficial for the team: “It’s always interesting when someone like him comes to the team and has different ideas or drives in a different way and maybe wants different things in the car.”
Alonso and Stroll will work together on the track in the tests of Sherry in two weeks. Both drivers will be at the circuit on consecutive days and will share performance information.
