The charging infrastructure progress slowly in our country. We are still far from the projected goals of public points for electric cars and it seems that they will take years to get there. However, private companies and shopping centers are also contributing their grain of sand. We recently talked about the Mercadona movement and today we received the news that Decathlon will install 400 charging points for electric cars in the coming months.
It’s about a joint project with EDP, who will own the chargers. The energy company will be in charge of its installation, operation and support; while Decathlon will give up space in 39 of its establishments nationwide. The objective is to become one of the most outstanding companies in the network of electric chargers. It is in line with its objectives of commitment to sustainability and care for the environment. There will be different chargers depending on the needs.
There will be charging points of various types, from 22 kW semi-fast to 50 kW fast. Will also include some ultra-fast 150 kW, which will also be available 24 hours a day for drivers. To access all its advantages, you will have to download the Move on app, which allows you to pay with your own mobility card. Likewise, it will also mount contactless technology at these charging points so that users can pay by card or mobile.
In Decathlon they have already carried out other actions to reduce CO2 emissions at your facilities. To the thermal insulation of its roofs, high-efficiency air conditioning, LED lighting or photovoltaic plants; now the installation of these 400 charging points for electric cars has been added. It is also an additional service and a added value to your customers. On the part of EDP, they have already installed more than 1,315 chargers in Spain and in 2022 they reached 70,000 public recharges.
