Fernando Alonso’s harsh criticism of the Formula 1 pre-season tests

Fernando Alonso’s harsh criticism of the Formula 1 pre-season tests

On March 5 the 2023 season of Formula 1 with the first race of the year at the Sakhir circuit in bahrain.

Before, the pilots only have a day and a half to carry out the preseason test on the same layout.

There are three days of tests, which are divided into day and a half for each driver with a single car per couple.

This plan has been harshly criticized by some of the drivers on the Formula 1 grid, who see insufficient time to prepare for a demanding season.

One of them has been Fernando Alonso in statements to ‘RacingNews365.com’, where he has criticized that F1 is the “only sport in the world” in having so little preparation.

“It’s the only sport in the world where you do a day and a half of practice, and then you play a World Championship“, explained the two-time F1 world champion.

These statements are quite similar to those of George Russell to the same medium: “Personally, I don’t think three days are enough.”

Can you imagine Rafa Nadal going 12 weeks without hitting a racket or a ball and then go straight to Roland Garros with a day and a half of training? It would just never happen,” added Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate.

At the moment, it is known that Alonso will drive this Thursday afternoon with the Aston Martin AMR23, while Philip Drugovichafter injury to Lance Stroll, will do it in the morning. So far, the team’s plans for Friday and Saturday are unknown, so it is not ruled out that Fernando do the two full days.
