Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale, from the tracks to the street

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale, from the tracks to the street

Ferrari presented in Fiorano, Italy, precisely on its own test track, the new SF90 XX in Stradale (coupé) and Spider (convertible) versions. As usually happens with the models of this line since they began to be produced back in 2005 with the first FXX derived from the Enzo, their use was expected to be only for the tracks. However, Ferrari was pleasantly surprised that this particular model is already for the first time it turns out to be an XX approved to be legally driven on the streets.

The idea of the XXs at Ferrari is to be used at the brand’s private track events, where wealthy owners basically paid for the model to become true test drivers, as the company promised that the feedback would be used to refine future models.

But now with the introduction of the SF90 XX Stradale, and its brother Spider, things change, and with these Ferraris you can go for a walk around the city.

What changes compared to the traditional Ferrari SF90?

If we compare this XX version with the SF90 that it takes as a base, we find that The XX’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 has new pistons and a more efficient cooling system, increasing its output by 17 hp for a total of 786 hp. On the other hand, the trio of electric motors have not changed, but can now offer a combined peak of 229 hp (12 hp more than in the regular SF90) thanks to improved cooling.

While they don’t seem like huge increases, The improvements mean that the maximum combined power of the Ferrari SF90 XX now reaches 1015 HP, surpassing the 1,001 HP that the new Lamborghini Revuelto will have. We know that the type of people who buy these vehicles figures are measured against their peersso even if it is little, any difference is useful.

Ferrari SF90 XX Spider.

If we talk about weight, both the Stradale and the Spider save just 10 kg compared to their standard brothers. Without a doubt, the The most important change for these XX versions involves the aerodynamic work, since a large spoiler is incorporated at the rear, something that is not very common in the “street” models of the brand. Also added is a new front splitter and the same movable active Gurney winglet as the regular SF90, but now with drastically increased aerodynamic assistance. According to the brand, the SF90 XX generates 530 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, an increase of 140 kg over what the SF90 generates at the same speed.

One of the best things about the new SF90 XX is that it will be much more accessible than other XX models. In Europe, where the model when it was launched had already sold all the stock to be manufactured of 799 Coupes and 599 Spiders, the starting price for the Stradale was €770,000 and €850,000 for the Spider. Clearly, as often happens with models of the brand, the optional ones can increase the price by 50%, but even so it is still tempting compared to other models in the line, since when the first FXX was launched it cost USD 2, 1 million, the 599 XX was $1.5 million, and the FXX K was $2.6 million.

Impossible to buy, and even very difficult to ever see one of these Ferraris in person. But hey, at least we have some good photos, enjoy them below.
