Alvaro Bautista disrespected Toprak Razgatlioglu. The current SuperBikes world champion is angry with the Spanish rider, he did not like what happened in the podium celebration of the first race in Mandalika.
The WSBK world championship takes place in Indonesia, a country where the religion it is muslim, the same as that of Razgatlioglu. a religion that it does not allow the consumption of alcoholhence the pilot does not celebrate his victories or podiums with champagne.
That was what happened during Mandalika’s Race 1 podium finish. The current world champion won the race and shared the podium with Bautista and Jonathan Rea. When it’s time for champagne, Toprak turned away to allow their rivals to celebrate the race.
However, the problem came when Bautista chased him to bathe him in champagne. A gesture that Razgatlioglu did not like at all. “I don’t get it… we’re also in a Muslim country!” said the Yamaha rider at the post press conference.
“It’s okay to celebrate with champagne, but it haunted me. I don’t understand why, since I’m a Muslim, I don’t usually celebrate with champagne. I think today he has not had respect. Then he apologized to me, but just as I respect him, he has to respect me,” added Toprak.
