Although it is different from what many fans expect, we already have it here with the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R EV. It is a plug-in hybrid version of the model so you do not have to worry about autonomy.
The Mazda MX-30 was born as an electric crossover to which he was accused of having autonomy fair due to its 35.5 kWh capacity battery. Then came a micro-hybrid version for those with other needs. And now the range is expanding with the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R EV, which unites the best of both worlds. From the outside it can hardly be distinguished by the exclusive color Maroon Rouge Metallic, inspired by the one worn by the Mazda R360, in some points, or by the rotor-shaped emblem. But in its bowels there is much more.
Why the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R EV incorporates the 8C rotary engine that goes under the hood together with a generator and an electric motor of 170 CV of power. It is placed as the top of the range for that data, which is higher than that offered by the electric one. In this case, it comes complete with a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, a size that is half that of the non-combustion MX-30. Despite this, it has a electric autonomy of 85 kilometers And you’ll be able to travel without worries thanks to a 50-litre fuel tank that increases your overall range.
It goes without saying that the rotary engine is not the one that moves the wheels, since it works as a mere electric generator to increase electric autonomy. It is the solution for which the Japanese firm is committed, which has not yet given details of consumption or benefits, which are pending approval. What they do advance is that it will have Normal, EV and Charge driving modes.
They also affirm that dynamic behavior will live up to expectations in the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R EV. The brand already accepts reservations and announces it with a starting price of 38,050 euros with the Prime-Line finish, a rate that is identical to that of the electric version.
