“It’s okay to rest three weeks”

Formula 1 is in the middle of a ‘break’ after the first three races of the season: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia. The competition returns the weekend of April 30 at bakualmost a month after the last laps in Albert Park.

There has been a lot of criticism of this ‘break’, but the boss of Alpine, otmar szafnauer, likes. In ‘Motorsport’ he celebrated these spring breaks as soon as the season began.

“Perhaps we should consider consciously making a spring break in future seasonsit’s good to have a three-week break at the moment,” said the boss of the French team.

He thinks it would be a good way to move forward with the calendar: “It could be a way to get ahead and manage in the calendar the next years”.

“I know the season has just started, but it’s not like we’ve only had three races in. A lot of people from each team have worked very hard over the winter to get the car ready for pre-season testing and the first races. in August, they will have another break of three weeks”, has detailed Szafnauer.

Alpine has started the season disastrously. In Australia its two pilots, Esteban Ocon and Pierre GaslyThey ended up against the wall after colliding with each other in the exit.

Alpine has scored just 8 points in three races. It is the sixth team, even behind McLaren (12 points), which seemed at the start of the season that they could become the worst team on the grid.
