KIA is recognized in the United States for its long-term value

Three Kia models were recognized as winners in the annual “Best Cars for the Money 2023” awards. from US News & World Report. These are:


  • 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid (Best Hybrid SUV for the Money)
  • Kia Optima (K5) (Best Midsize Car for the Money)
  • Kia Rio (Best Subcompact Car for the Money).


Covering 12 automotive categories, awards highlight cars and SUVs they represent the best combination of long-term value and excellent ownership experience.



“These three US News & World Report Best Cars for the Money awards speak to the appeal and value of our entire product line, from household names like the Rio, to our newest models like the Sportage Hybrid SUV.”said Steven Center, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Kia America. “While we strive to offer the best in design, technology, performance and comfort, we recognize that value is always a top priority for our customers.”


Winners were selected on the basis of quality and value. Quality is determined by each vehicle’s performance in US News & World Report’s Best Car Rankings and value is measured by a combination of transaction prices and five-year total cost of ownership.



“Our Best Cars for the Money awards are designed to identify vehicles that provide strong long-term value and a satisfying ownership experience”said Jim Sharifi, managing editor of US News Best Cars. “The Sportage Hybrid, Optima (K5) and Rio deliver when it comes to keeping projected ownership costs low. Strong performance in our rankings and an impressive list of helpful tech features also make them top picks for quality-focused buyers during their car-buying journey.”


For 2023, both the Rio and the Optima (K5) enter the new year with minor improvements, while the Sportage Hybrid will join the Kia family as an electrified version of the Sportage. Key model in Kia’s ‘Plan S’ strategy, the Sportage Hybrid follows in the footsteps of the EV6 and Sorento PHEV as another example of Kia’s multiple paths towards electrification.
