The last to show its rejection of the measure has been the Madrid Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA), which, through a statement, has indicated that it is a “a very harmful error that will seriously damage a fundamental sector for the economy and employment in Spain and Europe”.

AMDA maintains that “things are being done without listening to the reality that users live, the clients of a sector that has a great weight in the Spanish and European economy”. In the words of the president of the Madrid Association of Automotive Distributors, Carlos Bustillo, it is not possible to “impose the electric vehicle and even less by limiting or prohibiting access to other types of motorizations.”

Bustillo has strongly criticized the way in which things are being done in this process of electrifying the automobile. Acknowledging that the current model must be changed, which is highly polluting and must be improved, he stated that “We do not believe that the solution is achieved by prohibiting and limiting with this radicalism”.

For Bustillo, the user is being forced to purchase electric vehicles at very high prices and with a scarce infrastructure of recharging points. For this reason, the Government of Spain has been asked Aid to renovate a highly aged car park and very polluting with solutions that are already available on the market and creating more public charging infrastructure,

Finally, the head of AMDA believes that this “radical” electrification will increase the aging of the Spanish car parkwhich is already 14 years old on average, aggravating its consequences.
