We cannot turn our backs on the evidence. Maybe not everyone, but more and more people, familiar with my profession, ask me if there is an electrician that fits their type of life. And there are already many interesting electric cars, but most of them err on the side of having a high price, at least when compared to equivalent models with a combustion engine. And in this, the MG 4 appears.
It is not cheap. At least, paying 34,200 euros for a vehicle is not within the reach of most. But new car inflation has made it one of the few vehicles that can look its combustion engine rivals in the face. In the test of the MG 4 we made a very conclusive comparison: the MG 4 with 204 CV of power costs the same as a Volkswagen Golf 1.5 TSI of 130 CV and automatic transmission. And it offers a better power-weight ratio and has more complete equipment:
In addition, if you can opt for them, you have aid for the purchase of the Moves Plan (up to 7,000 euros in savings). And knowing that they are a new brand, at MG they offer a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty. They already have 55 dealers in Spain and intend to have many more.
It’s not the perfect car. Because in a fairly well-resolved interior, it suffers from poor rear visibility and lacks details in the rear seats. Technologically, it could have a somewhat smoother multimedia system and less intrusive driving aids.
They are, however, handicaps that other rivals have with much higher prices, with similar bodies and similar power levels and battery capacity. It is not a revolutionary car… but we do hope that it will encourage brands to lower prices and rates in order to compete with it… because of course, it has arguments.
