ANDt was one of the main novelties of the Stuttgart firm for this year in our country and it finally arrived: Mercedes-Benz presented the new EQA in Argentina, the first member of its range of electric vehicles to land on the market and which reaffirms the company’s electrification strategy globally.
In this regard, Roberto Gasparini, Managing Director Automobiles of Mercedes-Benz Argentina, stated: “The EQA is Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level SUV into the world of electric mobility, being the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle with exclusively electric propulsion. The EQA combines, with its characteristic design, total daily mobility and zero emissions, with athletic performance and intuitive connectivity.

The new:
We could define the EQA as the 100% electric variant of the GLA or its equivalent, although it has its own imprint, more technological. Aesthetically and even in terms of its platform, it is based on the compact SUV, so its design is quite similar in terms of its silhouette, body panels and dimensions.
The main difference lies in the front sector, which has a black mask that joins the grill -completely faired since it does not require a cooling system like a combustion vehicle- and in the headlights, which give that family air to full range EQ. Below, the bumper also has faired air intakes and only those at the ends are functional, redirecting the air towards the wheels.
In profile is where the similarities with the GLA are most noticeable, since only the design of the 18-inch alloy wheels with a diamond finish was modified, while at the rear, the headlights have an appliqué that extends the length of the width of the gate, joining them together.
Inside, the relationship with the SUV is noticeable, sharing the dashboard, although it also has a specific customization, with blue ambient lights and the inevitable huge double screen that concentrates the functions of the instrumentation, the multimedia system and the various parameters and vehicle information. In addition, it offers a very complete level of equipment, with numerous driving assistants such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, recognition of traffic signs or blind spot alert.

The EQA 350 has front seats with electrical adjustment and memory, rain sensor, MBUX multimedia system with integration for smartphones, electric windows and mirrors, central locking, Led High Performance headlights, Dynamic Select, two-tone Artico leather/Cupertino fabric upholstery, ambient lighting, run flat tires, Advanced sound system, MBUX system with extended functions, panoramic sunroof, Tempomat cruise control, 100% digital instrumentation, Thermotronic automatic climate control, automatic road lights, Easy-Pack electric opening tailgate , 18” alloy wheels, multifunction sports steering wheel covered in nappa leather, reversing camera with parking assistance system and run flat tires.

It has 7 airbags (front, side, curtain and knee for the driver), 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS/EBD/BA, traction control, stability control and Isofix anchors, among other items.
Additionally, it also has a package of driving assistance systems consisting of an involuntary lane change alert, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detector, active braking assistant, warning when leaving the vehicle, preventive warning if people are recognized in the environment of a pedestrian crossing and active distance assistant (Distronic).
Mechanics:
This 350 4Matic version is powered by two electric motors -located one on each axle, therefore providing it with all-wheel drive- that together deliver 292 hp and 520 Nm of torque, powered by a 66-inch lithium-ion battery pack. 5 kWh capacity that allows you to achieve a range of up to 400 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle. It can also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 160 km/h.
For recharging, the brand includes (in its price) a cable and a domestic Wallbox, which must be installed at the owner’s home by specialized technicians. The battery can be charged at any outlet with a power of 1.8 kW. If the Wallbox is used, a full charge takes approximately 6 hours. With a direct current fast charger as found in some service stations (50 to 100 kW), refueling can be done in just 30 to 60 minutes.
