Ferrari is not clear on what has been sanctioned against Red Bull. Yes they know they have to pay 7 million fine and that they will have 10% less of wind tunnel use, but the real effectiveness for Carlos Sainz’s team is not so evident.
And it is that, in the mouth of Laurent Mekies in Sky Italia, in Maranello they believe that even Red Bull could take advantage of the penalty to improve more than the others for the next season.
The reason, that 10% less wind tunnel they have for 2023. According to Ferrari, the money that would go to that expense now you can go “somewhere else”.
“They could reduce the weight of the car or who knows what,” says Mekies.
And he argues: “They have complete freedom to use the money they they are not going to spend in the wind tunnel”.
“This sanction does not imply that its budget ceiling is reduced, so the team is forced to spend elsewhere,” Mekies account.
Just like McLarenFerrari does not understand anything: “We do not understand how that can correspond with the same amount of time per lap.
“It is worrying. The sanction may have very limited real effect,” judgment.
