But since the changes are never just aesthetic, Opel took advantage of this half-life refresh to introduce some improvements. The most notable have to do with the mechanical offer and the renewal of the multimedia system.
The new Corsa, outside
The first is the first. The Opel Vizor finally arrives at the front of the Corsa, which makes it consistent with the rest of the range. As we know, it is a glossy black cover that is attached to the headlights as one big piece. Depending on the version, the Opel logo will be black or satin grey. Of course, the lighting system is with an LED matrix (Intelli-Lux) and has been improved with 14 diodes instead of eight.
The fascia was also redesigned with a more angular look with new air intakes. Another novelty is found in the rear, where the word Corsa can be read along the tailgate and not in a smaller badge, like all new Opels. The rest, you already know, new colors and wheels, as in all facelifts.
The new Corsa, inside
Inside there are three important changes:
- The transmission selector, the famous joystick that comes from the Peugeot 3008 and that has been used in countless Stellantis models (of the European faction, of course) is replaced by the new design, type “switch” and that all new models already have. At Opel it was released in the Mokka.
- The steering wheel has a new design in the center.
- The new Stellantis multimedia system with a 10″ screen is released, the same one that models like the Opel Astra have. This system (Snapdragon Cockpit Platform), as we know, is developed by Qualcomm.
- Has voice recognition
- Wireless support (and charging) for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- OTA updates
- Includes the redesign of the digital cluster
Of course there are also some aesthetic modifications that go hand in hand with new textiles and materials.
In addition, there are technological improvements, including a high-resolution panoramic rear view camera, which add to existing devices such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic braking and blind spot monitor.
A new kind of propulsion
The Corsa offer included gasoline and diesel engines, as well as an electric variant. Now there is more to choose from.
First, the Corsa Electric will be offered in two versions, one of 100 kW (136 Hp) with a range of 357 kilometers and another of 115 kW (156 Hp) that reaches 402 kilometers thanks to a 54 kWh battery.. With a fast charger, they can recover from 20 to 80 percent of their capacity in 30 minutes.
And the second thing is the arrival of MHEV engines. It is a 1.2 Turbo engine with a 48v system, with powers of 99 or 134 Hp, both associated with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The rest of the mechanical range is maintained for now, but it is known that this will be the last Corsa with combustion engines.
