The long-awaited debut of the RAM Revolution has taken place in the “city of sin” during a Consumer Electronic Show (CES), An event that seems to have become the headquarters of global electrification, which is no wonder, because hand in hand with the different EV models that are arriving, new technologies in the areas of entertainment, communication, audio, video, and all those “toys” that are usually accompanied.
Thus, officially presented in society, the RAM Revolution 1500 BEV Concept looks impressive, disruptive, technological and, moreover, sophisticated. Its creators say that it is a model product of obsession; everyone their ideas. We see one of the most accomplished products to ever come out of the RAM Design Center, in Auborn Hills, Michigan.
RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept: What is it about?
Firstly, this pick-up that already belongs to a new “breed” of work vehicles, without forgetting that is a spearhead at RAM regarding the electrification strategy that Stellantis will follow. For this reason, it will begin to see the faces with the Ford Lihtning, for example; so the consortium turns to its new STLA Frame architecture, which would eventually “make life easier” for the series production model given its capabilities to optimize the actual mechanical configuration. In the meantime, RAM Revolution 1500 BEV arrives boasting not insignificant 800 kilometers of autonomy, courtesy of its 350kW energy power.
RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept: Design
After seeing the real shapes in the presentation, it must be said that the teasers that RAM has been sharing until today do not do it justice. RAM Revolution 1500 BEV does not lose the genes of the ram; its strokes are robust, well defined, the design of the wheels coherently matches what its entire athletic silhouette communicates; while the design and configuration of both the headlights and the skulls give it a unique personality. It also shows interesting proposals on ergonomics issues such as:
- Door opening
- Options to configure cargo space in the cabin (up to 5 meters)
- rails on the floor
- Multifunctional tray door
- Movable side panels for the configuration of space in the tray.
But special mention deserves the panoramic glass roof and cargo space provided in what would be the engine compartment, result of having integrated a pair of electric motors that facilitated gaining space forward.
RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept: New Job Roles
We cannot ignore the true purpose of a pick-up and ok, perhaps it does not live in a construction site or cattle transport; but Through technology, RAM Revolution could be more than a tool, a real gadget for your operator in very specific tasks controlled by a personal assistant, is it possible? Yes, because this pick-up, at least in its conceptual stage, would be ready to operate with a level 3 autonomy.
The cabin is as minimalist as it is technological and elegant. An oval steering wheel with diagonal corners stars everything, then a central unit of 14.2 “touch segmented into two parts is communicated to the 360° cameras that, in turn, can take photos, record video and manage a biometric system for facial recognition of vehicle access.
RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept: When?
Although his arrival excites, the road to the RAM Revolution 1500 BEV is still long. What we see here looks great, but it is still a concept that has to mature and, above all, reach its final version, the one that few -or many- remain to be seen, can afford in 2025, which is when RAM Revolution intends to surprise us again with the standard model .
