The fifth season of ‘Stranger things’ will be the last and with it ends one of the biggest successes of the platform (later surpassed by ‘Dahmer’), a boom that began with its premiere in 2016. Netflix has celebrated for the fifth consecutive year the official day of the series that commemorates the date of the disappearance of Will Byers’ character, played by Noah Schapp, on November 6. For this reason, the platform has organized projections and other activities, both virtual and face-to-face, designed to delight fans and has started with the trickle of revelations about what we can expect in the next installment.
The end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024 are the approximate dates that are considered for the premiere of the next season, but at the moment there is nothing official. What is already known is what it will be the first episode of the new installment entitled ‘The Tracking’ and it is also written by the creators themselves, the brothers Matt and Ross Duffer. So we have been able to see it in an image published on the Twitter profile of the series. The news has triggered the imagination of the most faithful public that has already begun to speculate on theories relating the name of the chapter and its connection with the game ‘Dungeons and Dragons’, the favorite of the protagonists.
Taking into account that the writing of the scripts is in process and that the filming will not start until next year, the new will most likely start after a time jumpas the creators already advanced in June in an interview on TVLine. “Ideally, we would have shot (Seasons 4 and 5) back to back, but it wasn’t feasible,” said Ross Duffer.
The new installment presents several challenges, the main and most obvious being that it must include a decent ending that lives up to the series and the public’s expectations. It would not be the first series that collapses due to a bad closing. And the second is that, as they have recognized the creatorsthey are trying focus on the main cast without adding too many new characters. “We’re trying not to do that (adding new characters) so we can focus on the original characters.”
