While Subaru confirmed there would be no WRX STi, this morning the folks at Carscoops caught a WRX of the latest generation quite peculiar that suggests some upgrades focused on performance, but that really does not show any concern for hiding completely, and does hide the logotypes and anagrams with “the always reliable adhesive tape”, material that was even used on the brakes as for hide the name of Brembo, HPE, STi? who knows…
Another aspect that can be perceived is the presence of perforated discs, a set of larger diameter wheels and sporty tires, details that suggest -or so we imagine- an increase in performance (power, torque, acceleration, etc.)
You have to be very careful about the version or model that Subaru is up to, after all, an STi could not be, because Dominick Infante himself, director of corporate communications for the brandI had already commented that this version is not viable:
“An STI would be meaningless, regulations change so fast that it wouldn’t make sense”
However, It is known that in Japan there is a WRX STi variant, which does not change anything in its mechanical aspect, nor power or any parameter that makes a difference, but it does incorporate competition components such as Recaro seats, special upholstery, carbon details and larger brakes, so this captured model could also be a test by Subaru North America to win customers looking for something more than a conventional WRX or even some equipment package, which I doubt 100% because In the North American aftermarket there are any number of parts and components to make any WRX a true monster.
