After testing the BMW X3 I had to give in: a large SUV like the one in Munich can be a good option even when you are looking for precision behind the wheel and dynamism. Yes, even with a diesel engine like the xDrive20d. Only the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, of the diesel SUVs in that order of power that I have tested, had a similar touch, but unlike the German it does not achieve such low consumption and is not as refined at low speeds.
That you don’t like diesel or do you need another type of label? No problem. The BMW X3 has a very complete mechanical range. From the ECO versions thanks to microbibridization to zero with the plug-in hybrid version and the 100% electric iX3. But the balance between performance and consumption of this X3 xDrive20d won us over:
The interior is quite spacious (it’s a big car) and it has one of the best trunks when compared to its main rivals. But the best thing is how well done the interior is, both in materials and technology. After a week driving it, we can only highlight two problems: its visibility, which you solve with the proximity sensors and the rear view camera that comes as standard and some more holes to leave objects.
Obviously, such a round product is not cheap. If you are looking for a premium SUV of this size with all-wheel drive and around 200 hp, it is one of the most expensive options. Not so much, yes, like the Mercedes GLC that wants to achieve, especially in finishes, this model. And a warning: if you want to leave it to your liking, set yourself a spending limit before configuring the car, since the extras are quite expensive.
