Charles Leclerc has stayed, again, without any option to fight for the Formula 1 World Championship. Despite how happy the Monegasque promised them, fellow Carlos Sainz, at the beginning of the course, in the end Ferrari did not give enough evolution to a car that is in trouble even to keep the second position of the constructors’ title.
Now, the pilot has spoken to give his team homework for next year… and the truth is that they are going to have a lot of work ahead of them according to the words of the Monaco corridor.
Because there are not many areas in which Leclerc does not believe that they should raise their level: “We have to improve in team management tires, communication, strategy and reliability”.
In words in ‘Motorsport Italia’, he believes that they have already taken steps forward: “We have advanced a bit in communication and strategy. Especially in the last races.”
“At the beginning of the season our car was better than Red Bull, in general. Then they took several steps forward, and it took everything to a performance difference between qualifying and the race,” he says.
It puts the focus, yes, on the management of tires as a key point: “They are much stronger.”
“I will do everything possible to be world champion in 2023”, Leclerc sentenced, agreeing with a Ferrari team that recognizes that he focused all his efforts too soon for the next course.
