It is clear that the best-known Czech brand in the motor world is Skoda. However, there is another thing to take into account and whose origins go back more than a century back in time. We are talking about Praga Cars, a firm that has always been very focused on competition and is now launching a production vehicle that will surely surprise many fans. The Bohemian Prague is a supercar that serves as a tribute to the 89th anniversary of his victory in the 1933 Czechoslovak 1000 Miles.
Although a long time has passed since then and the new Bohema has a design that is even futuristic. It has a lot of influence in the competition, with marked lines that seek maximum aerodynamic performance, achieving up to 900 kg of load at 250 km/h. It is a mid-engined two-seater with very compact dimensions that is made full carbon fiber. It is the material that makes up its monocoque chassis and also the body panels.
The cabin is also very inspired by the competition. There are two squares, which are practically competition seats, and access is through doors with a butterfly-type opening. The steering wheel can be removed for easy access. Minimalism is absolute and the only screen, with all the necessary information, goes integrated into the steering wheel itself, which also has several buttons. It has a system to be able to use the mobile phone for other additional functions.
When creating this model, their priorities were clear: maintaining a light weight and a gasoline combustion engine. So much so that Bohemian Prague remains in just 982 kg empty, a truly astonishing number. Therefore, it does not take a large engine or exaggerated power figures to move it with ease. In fact, this example uses the PL38DETT engine, yes, the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 of the mythical Nissan GT-R placed in a central position and with some notable modifications, in addition to an extra dose of power.
Litchfield Engineering is in charge of modifying this engine to convert it to a dry sump and reduce its height so that it fits in the Bohema. It also changes the turbocharging system or the exhaust, with which it finally stays in 710 hp and 725 Nm of torque. A Hewland sequential gearbox is coupled to enhance its sportiness. For the moment, the Czech brand has not given more details about its benefits, but the goal is to have an acceleration of 0 to100 km/h in less than 2.3 seconds and that the maximum speed exceeds 300 km/h.
This Bohemian Prague also benefits from other details such as a independent suspension with adjustable shock absorbers or center-lock wheels (18-inch front and 19-inch rear). Its production is expected to start during the second half of 2023with a production limited to ten units in that year.
Afterwards, the remaining ones will continue to be made at a rate of 20 cars per year, until reaching a total of 89 units of the supercar, following that tribute to the 89th anniversary of the race. The starting price of Praga Bohema is €1.28 million (taxes not included).
