Relatively recently we were testing the Ford Puma ST and we highlight it as one of the best general sports SUVs. The key was that 200 CV 1.5 EcoBoost engine adopted from the Fiesta ST, which gave it a lot of character and good performance. Now they want to expand the range with a slightly more thorough option and adapted to the current times. The Ford Puma ST Powershift is a slightly watered down version for having lower figures, but attractive to those seeking the advantages of the ECO label.
This new variant of the model mounts the 1.0 EcoBoost three-cylinder engine, the award-winning signature block of the oval that has won several awards. As in the EcoBoost Hybrid, a 48V mild hybrid system to get the ECO label while reducing consumption and emissions compared to the other Puma ST. In this case, the name comes from the powershift automatic transmission dual-clutch and seven-speed that also wants to give it that dynamic personality.
This model will be a somewhat less radical “Sports Technologies”, as it has a power of 170 hp and 248 Nm of torque. It is little difference compared to the 155 CV Puma MHEV that is currently for sale, but they promise a differential set-up. If we look at its technical sheet, we see that it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds (7 tenths more than the other Puma ST) and that its consumption and emissions data are adjusted by approving 6.3 l/100 km and 144 g/km of CO2. It achieves this with the support of the 48V electrical system which also provides an additional 10PS.
This Ford Puma ST Powershift also boasts of having specific adjustments in the torsion axis and the stabilizer bar, as well as patented vectoring force springs to improve its stability. It has a steering ratio of 11.4:1 (almost 25% more than the stock Puma), oversized brakes (17% larger) and paddles on the steering wheel to take advantage of the benefits of the Powershift transmission. It also maintains the Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes to adapt to any situation.
To distinguish it on an aesthetic level, it is enough to look at the new front splitter with Ford Performance logo (which increases the downforce by 80% compared to the standard one), in addition to the rear spoiler and a specific diffuser. Has 19 inch wheels with the Magnetite finish and premieres the exclusive Azura Blue color, in addition to the other six options that can be complemented with the black roof to achieve the two-tone bodywork.
