The new times bring amazing vehicles. The charging speed is one of the great barriers of electric cars, since the times are still quite high if we compare what we saw in combustion cars. Although the Nyobolt EV Concept wants to change the perception we have of this technology. It is a sports prototype that has been made by two leading companies of British origin that want to change the landscape with a full charge in 6 minutes.
Its greatest creator is Julian Thompson, which took the first Lotus Elise as a starting point for his project. He contacted Callum to do the design and Nyobolt to develop pioneering technology. Together they did an exemplary job to create a very outstanding prototype both inside and out. The result was a pure sports car, with reduced dimensions and weight that favored efficiency. The presence and sportsmanship on all four sides were also mandatory.
Compared to the original Elise, we see a body 150 mm longer and 100 mm wider, showing that times have changed. He also uses some 19 inch wheels, while changing all its bumpers. You can see generous air intakes on the hood, in the bumpers and even in the doors to promote aerodynamics and also cooling. The rear is very muscular, especially thanks to that area that represents the engine cover and that is finished off by a Spoiler in the purest “duck tail” style.
Other details that the Nyobolt EV Concept boasts are more modern LED headlights and meeting current requirements, always maintaining the rounded shapes of the Elise. Traditional mirrors have been replaced by high definition cameras to improve visibility and also to differentiate aesthetically, showing a completely updated design.
However, where the prototype stands out the most is in its electric propulsion system. Managing to keep his weight around a ton allows him to equip a 35 kWh battery with which it would already achieve a range of about 250 kilometers. This battery is smaller, lighter and faster to charge than the competition. In fact, it can be charged in just 6 minutes on existing charging infrastructures today. Also from Nyobolt affirm have tested its durability with more than 2,000 rapid charge cycles without significant loss of performance.
Although it is still a prototype, they already affirm that the technology would be ready to go into production early next year 2024. With its arrival, it would position itself as one of the most agile, efficient and lowest-cost electric vehicles on the market. In any case, there is still time to learn the rest of the details of the Nyobolt EV Concept and see if it is a viable option.
