It’s called Uranus, it’s made in Priorat, it goes on the market at a price of 1,700 euros per bottle and is part of the Vinos de Otro Mundo collection, a series of nine wines, as many as the planets in the solar system, made in the nine the best wine regions in the world, by as many producers of special character.
Made by Dominik Huber, from Terroir al Limit (Torroja del Priorat, Tarragona), in a limited edition of 500 bottles and some large formats of up to 12 liters, which will be on sale at Christmas, although it is already possible to make an advance reservation. “Uranus is a new wine, with an extraordinary aging capacity and that will put Priorat and all its producers in the spotlight of new consumers, millennialswho want to buy high-quality products at a higher price, because they know that these specific wines will give them pleasure, profitability, prestige, status”, explains Huber.
The idea for this project came from the Portuguese wine producer Claudio Martins, founder of Martin’s Wine Adviser, that bets on expensive and different wines. The journey began in 2021 in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, with Júpiter, a wine made in traditional amphorae by Pedro Ribeiro, from the Heredade do Rocim, with a limited edition of 800 bottles at a price of 1,000 euros, which sold out immediately. .
“This is a collector’s wine, a safe investment, which began in Portugal, a region that is not usually one of the options in the portfolio of wine collectors,” explains Martins, during the presentation of Spanish wine, and whose route will continue with upcoming releases made in Bordeaux, Champagne, Tuscany, Napa Valley, Mosel, Georgia, until finishing again in Portugal. What he intends with this initiative, he continues, is to try to provoke a reflection on quality wines and the need to value them properly, regardless of the region where they are produced. “These are wines with an extraordinary aging capacity and very appetizing for new consumers”, he assures.
