Motor fans can rest easy: the Mazda MX-5 will not disappear, according to the general director of Mazda in Europe.
The Mazda MX-5 is one of the most fun cars to drive today. In a two-seater roadster/coupé format, it combines sportiness and a contained price, which makes it an object of desire for great fans of emotions behind the wheel and in best selling roadster ever.
The gradual and constant electrification in the ranges of vehicles of all brands could suggest that the Mazda model could be in danger of extinction. However, we can breathe easy, the CEO of the company in Europe has dispelled doubts about the future of the MX-5.

Speaking to Autocar magazine, Mazda’s European boss, Martijn ten Brink, has confirmed that This sports car will “never die”. Asked what Mazda plans for its iconic rear-wheel drive roadster, ten Brink said: “How do you stay true to the concept of the car and bring it to the next generation of technology? That is to be decided. But I think it’s fair for Mazda to say that the MX-5 will never die.”
The top executive of Mazda in the Old Continent has stressed that the MX-5 “will definitely continue to be part of the model range” and has acknowledged that he is excited to see what direction the next generation will take. He refers to the possible adoption of hybrid mechanics or 100×100 electrican extreme that is not yet confirmed by the Japanese firm.
The latest on the matter was announced a few months ago, via the Vision Study concept that underscored Mazda’s long-term commitment to fun cars. From the brand itself it was recognized that the next MX-5 could inherit solutions from this prototype, although nothing was guaranteed. In fact, the latest rumors suggest that the next MX-5 would keep the combustion engines.
